## About the AI domain valuation tool

The tool estimates what a domain name could sell for to an end user: the retail price a business pays to buy the name outright, not what it fetches at a wholesale auction. You get a single best estimate, a range around it, and a plain-English rating of how sure the model is.

Estimates come from a model trained on years of publicly reported domain sales. It reads the name’s structure, its words and how they have sold, search and advertising demand for its keywords, how many other extensions the same name is registered in, and AI scores for brandability, how easy it is to say, and whether it clearly names something people pay for. Every result shows the comparable sales and reasons behind the number, so you can check it yourself.

Names that are listed for sale on name.ai always link to their listing. We show our estimate next to it only when the estimate is above the asking price, so a seller’s price is never undercut.

## How to value a domain name

1. Type the domain name, for example example.com. Just the name: no http://, paths or IP addresses.
2. Tick the “I’m not a robot” box and press Value this domain.
3. Read the best estimate and its range. The confidence line tells you how much evidence was behind it.
4. Check the reasons and the comparable sales table to see which real sales the estimate leans on.

## Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the valuation?

It is an estimate, not an appraisal or an offer. About 6 in 10 real retail sales land inside the range we show. Tested on thousands of recent sales, about 3 in 4 names rated high confidence sold within 2x of the estimate, about half of medium ones, and about 4 in 10 low ones.

Where do the comparable sales come from?

From publicly reported domain sales. We show recent sales of names that share words with yours, with the price, the month and the marketplace where each sold.

How many valuations can I run?

3 a day without an account, and 10 a day when you sign in to name.ai. Looking up a name you already valued today does not use another one. Limits reset at midnight UTC.

What if the name is for sale on name.ai?

You get a link to its listing, where you can see the price or make an offer. Our estimate appears next to it only when it is above the asking price. Names close to a known brand or trademark get a caution line: check for conflicts before you buy or use one.

Is this the price I should list my domain at?

Use it as a starting point. The retail value is what an end user might pay over time; a quick sale to an investor is usually much lower. When you are ready to sell, you can list the name on name.ai.
